European Dermoid sinus survey 2016

European Dermoid sinus survey 2016

At the 2016 RRWC it was decided to continue and strengthen the research in Dermoid Sinus, its’ frequency, prevention and DNA. I am happy and proud to say that we now are able to come with the first indicator result, thanks to figures from the breed clubs in Finland, Sweden, Denmark, Germany (DZRR & ELSA), Norway and KCHRR in the Czech Republic. More clubs have committed to submit data, but it takes time to collate the figures from many years of breeding. If your club have reliable figures of puppies born, DS found and number of Ridgeless for at least the last five years, and you have not yet been contacted, we apologize as we are very interested and hope you would like to submit.
The graph shows that the frequency of DS in Ridgeback litters reported to the above clubs is falling significantly and was in 2015 a mere 1.6%. The number of ridgeless has risen a little but is still below 5%
